The accommodation is part of The Old Castle Inn which is a detached 18th century house. The house is a typical country house with hens, ducks, sheepdogs a horse and two donkeys. The self catering cottage is set in a rural location in the countryside village of Clifford in Herefordshire, less than 2 miles from the popular, quaint and interesting town of Hay-on-Wye, commonly known as the ‘Town of Books’. It is also only approximately 17 miles from the historic Cathedral City of Hereford, where there are many attractions including the Mappa Mundi, chained library and the Cider Museum. The River Wye, famed for its canoeing and fishing, is within a short walking distance.
Situated on the Herefordshire / Welsh border, this self catering cottage offers you an ideal base from which to explore the local area or to simply relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday living. Whether you simply want a relaxing break, or if you enjoy hill walking, trekking, canoeing, golf, fishing or horse riding - these activities are locally available.
For book lovers, Hay offers nearly 30 various bookshops, selling both new and second-hand books, and is a haven for anyone interested in literature. It is renowned for the Guardian Hay Festival (end of May - early June) which offers a range of lectures given by a wide variety of speakers.
